Frank Treppe was born in 1956. He graduated from the Technical University (RWTH) in Aachen, Germany, in mechanical engineering. His professional career started in 1982 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology in Aachen.

Today, Frank Treppe is an Associate Member of the Board and Managing Director Political and International Affairs of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in Munich. He is in charge of Fraunhofer’s international strategic business development. Moreover, he has a wide range of domestic and international responsibilities like Chairman of Fraunhofer Chile and Member of the Supervisory Board of Fraunhofer Austria and Sweden.

In addition, Frank Treppe is President of EARTO, the European Association of Research and Technology Organizations, and he serves as evaluator in the technology programs of the European Commission.
