Hugo currently heads the Discovery Data Sciences team, which supports drug discovery with machine learning and AI approaches for small molecule selection and design, and for drug target and biomarker identification (with an emphasis on single-cell methods).

Hugo holds the degrees of MD, MSc in Bioinformatics and PhD in Molecular Biology. Prior to joining Janssen in 2008, he completed postdocs at KULeuven and EMBL Heidelberg.
