Shaun Mallinson has been involved in the use of forensic science in law enforcement since 1984, when he operated as a CSI for Durham Constabulary, and worked at various roles up to Scientific Support Manager with both Durham and Cumbria Constabularies. He has operational experience of the crime scene, fingerprint, laboratory, and imaging functions on a managerial level.
In 2000 he transferred to the UK National Training Centre as the Head of Training and Development with responsibility for forensic training functions as well as international development. During this period, he was involved in forensic capability development initiatives in the Middle East, Africa, Indian Sub continent and the Caribbean including international training programmes delivered both in the UK and in country.
He worked as the Senior Forensic Adviser and Partnerships and Funding Coordinator for the Home Office Centre for Applied Science and Technology developing opportunities for innovation and funding for Home Office interests including law enforcement. His current role is Account Manager for Borders, Immigration, Citizenship and International Engagement. The focus of his work is around developing science and technology requirements for the Home Office and commissioning programmes of work to address Home Office priorities. In addition, Shaun is responsible for the Horizon 2020 programme, working across other Government departments to promote collaborative work and develop strategic level partnerships with both UK and international partners, and also the UK national contact point for the ENLETS network.
