About Søren Stjernqvist
Søren Stjernqvist holds a Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Technical University of Denmark (1976) and Dipl. Business Studies (1981). His fields of scientific expertise are energy systems, renewable energy, mechanical and manufacturing engineering, business development and innovation processes.
Mr. Stjernqvist came to Danish Technological Institute in 1981 after a position as design engineer in MAN, (large 2 stroke diesel engines) and as head of engineering in Sterling Airways (Aviation). In 1987 he was appointed as Director of the Institute’s Energy Division, which developed into one of Denmark´s leading players within the energy field with more than 170 employees. In intermittent periods he has also acted as Vice President for other divisions like Materials and Productions, Environment and Business Development, and increasingly became involved in other tasks for the Institute as a whole. As a consequence of his contributions to the Institute, he was appointed Senior Vice President in 1999.
In 2002 Mr. Stjernqvist was appointed President and CEO of The Danish Technological Institute (DTI).
DTI is an independent, non-profit organisation, founded in 1906 and with more than 1000 employees, authorised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science. Mr Stjernqvist is a board member in several governmental and business organisations: Member of the Academy of Technical Science Member of the board of The Danish Gas Technology Centre President of the associations for the Danish Research and Technology Organisations
