Meet Ignacio Calvo Herrera

Ignacio Calvo Herrera, Civil Engineer by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain, and executive MBA. Currently, he holds the position of Technology and Innovation Director of ACCIONA Construction. In his position, Mr. Calvo leads ACCIONA Construction R&D Centre, a unique facility where 80 researchers work in the development of technology for the improvement of the construction sector in the areas of materials development, construction processes, digital innovation and building construction technologies.

Mr Calvo is currently a member of the ECTP Steering Committee, and has taken an active role in the ECTP since its inception. As such, he has been a key member in defending the interests of our industry and the position of the ECTP in front of the highest-level EC representatives. Mr. Calvo is also a member of other European initiatives such as ENCORD.

At Spanish level, Mr Calvo is currently a board member of PTEC (Spanish Technology Construction Platform), member of the R&D Committee for Seopan

He has received several awards such as the BEX Anthony Hunt Award  and the Ingeniero Joven 2010 by the Civil Engineering Council of Madrid as well as the JEC Award to the best application of composite materials on construction sector for several years. He is the author of several publications and patents.
